Free Fall Sensor Market - Forecast(2021 - 2026)
Free falling is the process by which an object falls without any propulsion or control. In this manner, a free fall sensor is used to detect the same and can be integrated into any device to alert or monitor the free fall of that object. One of the largest applications for free fall detection sensors is in the healthcare segment where it is used as part of free fall detection systems for senior citizens. Every year, the number of senior citizens requiring assistance is increasing exponentially especially in North America and in Europe. As part of the assisted living program which is provided by a number of healthcare institutes in the region, the use of wearables is becoming increasingly predominant. Wearables allow the institutes to monitor vital statistics of an individual based on which proper medication can be given. Free fall detection systems are now being implemented so that remote monitoring of whether a person has fallen down or not can be tracked. Furthermore, an automated response system can be integrated along with a free fall sensor.
One of the challenges in this market is that the overall cost of a free fall detection system is quite high currently and is not part of a standard system across most healthcare institutes. As of now, North America is the highest contributor to the free fall detection sensor as the investment in the technology is high here and furthermore, more institutes are willing to spend on assisted living systems primarily because of the higher cost of living.
Free fall sensors can also be integrated into a number of electronic devices which need to be measured and monitored. For example, the use of free fall sensors in aircrafts and helicopters can be used to activate emergency response teams should there be any free fall drop in in any of these vehicles. Elevators can also integrate free fall sensors so that braking systems may be activated in advance should there be a sudden drop in the elevator.
